With the participation of each of us with the low average, we train farmers and breeders to better understand the Technics and also a hot meal for participants.
We will continue to work every day with these vulnerable people to improve their situations we all can help to continue the work.

           At the end of November REPADS/CPSDA welcomed a new international visitor, Br. Joseph-René D’Amour FSD. He came to see personally the latest achievements of REPADS/CPSDA in the field at Fond de Boudin, Leogane. During his visit there were many activities involving the children like singing, a poem reading and playing some games in order to welcome our Ambassador of REPADS/CPSDA from Canada. 

We took advantage of this visit to hand out some snacks and beverages and also organized another distribution of school materials (notebooks and pencils) to the children. Our international visitor (our Ambassador Br. Joseph-René) distributed many of these items personally. He took part in the games we played with the children and took many photos with them. The children were very happy to have a day of fun with Br. Joseph- René and to participate in all days activities.

   

After distributing the seeds in August 2013 to 50 planters, REPADS volunteer technical team organized field visits with planters and beneficiaries of seed to see the progress after seeds have been sewed and raised from the soil. We accompanied the planters on the field to define with them the kind of support we have to bring with in order to help them set up  good practices in agricultural techniques. More than 75% of the bean gardens set up in August are in a good situation and will be ready to be harvested at the end of November.  They will be able to sell beans on the local markets and improve their nutrition by eating more proteins in the bean harvested.

    We organized technical training with the beneficiaries to help better apply good practices in bean plantation. More than 50 took part to this interesting training and they raised some interesting questions regarding the way to fight against disease and insects in the plantation. They are well motivated to take part to this training and they thank REPADS/CPSDA volunteers for this initiative of training.  

At the end of this summer’s closing activities, we distributed supplies to as many of the children as we could at one of the local schools. Unfortunately, we were only able to distribute to 120 children among the 438 who took part in this event. Due to a lack of financial resources and funds, more than 500 children were unable to go back to school with the appropriate books, pens, paper etc. on Oct 1st. In this photo, volunteers of REPADS/CPSDA distribute to as many children as we can but it gives you an idea of the joy and happiness experienced by those we could help. Please take a look at the happiness and satisfaction of all the children.

To close out the summer vacation with the children in the designated areas in most need of intervention and support by REPADS/CPSDA, we organized some activities with them. We were also fortunate to have the time to complete a training session with our lawyer and volunteer Mona Jean who is the Coordinator for our Children’s Rights and Protection program. It was an opportunity for REPADS/CPSDA to teach and remind the children of their basic rights to live decently in our Haitian society and to understand that they are be protected by local and national authorities. They were happy to know that the authorities have the responsibility to protect them. Furthermore, there were some other events with which the children participated in like games, a singing contest, music, arts and crafts etc. More than 300 children participated in this successful activity.

Leissa, who is only 9 years old, is the youngest volunteer of REPADS/CPSDA. She helped with almost everything from participating in the training to helping to serve food to the children. She is a happy and devoted girl who’s always eager to contribute her time to bringing help and support to children in need wherever REPADS/CPSDA is intervening. Take a look at her great spirit of service and that beautiful smile, her serious commitment and her sense of humanitarian devotion is outstanding and appreciated. She will be talking about and sharing her incredible and exciting experience this past week with many of the kids at school when she returns next week on October 1st, she told us she will be inviting them to come out and volunteer the next time REPADS/CPSDA is having an event.

 

 

Please take time to look at these two lovely orphaned girls who are in need of clothes, supplies and shoes to go back to school in October. Like many of the hundreds of children in our community, they count on your generosity and your love so that they can return to school with all they need to participate in class, do their homework and feel and look the same as all the other children who have parents to provide these basic necessities. Please help REPADS/CPSDA in sending them to school by assisting us with paying their school fees, purchasing school supplies and feeding them through the after school program. Volunteers and REPADS staff, wearing our organizations T-shirts, helped in the logistics of the important training session help for the breeders from Leogane. with willingness and determination from all our volunteers, staff and visitors, we hope to maintain our commitment to work as closely as we can with as many vulnerable people possible, who are willing to learn new techniques for breeding and farming so that they can help themselves improve their living conditions.  

On Wednesday September 11th, 2013, REPADS/CPSDA was able to organize a training session for 50 goats breeders at Leogane. This training session was aimed at following a participatory approach and provided tools and techniques to improve goat breeding in Haiti. Owning your own livestock and breeding goats, cows, chickens and ducks is much like a bank account for North Americans. Haitians invest in their own futures and increase their incomes by breeding these animals not only to provide food for their families (eggs, milk and meat) but also so that they can sell them at a future date to purchase the many other items needed to raise their families such as clothing, furniture, beds, toiletries, school supplies, tuition and uniforms for their children to attend school. At present REPADS/CPSDA is working with several breeder associations to access education and information which will help many individual families (currently over 300) to raise, feed and protect their livestock, thereby providing a real future with fewer hardships and uncertainty.  

Dear supporters of REPADS/CPSDA, over the past couple of weeks we had hoped to distribute 5kg bags of bean seeds to 500 local families. Unfortunately, we were unable to fulfill our goal which resulted in delivering the much needed seeds to only 50 families. Now is the time for planting in Haiti and we need your help and continued generosity. Please consider a small donation which would enable us to deliver more seeds to more families. This donation is not only tax deductible but more importantly you will know deep in your heart that you have saved a family from possible starvation and malnutrition. This simple 5kg bag of beans not only feeds the immediate family but also a multitude of extended family members, neighbors and even local street children.

In collaboration with our foundation, REPADS/CPSDA recently organized a camp for the kids from the South on Thursday, July 18th. More than 300 vulnerable children participated and a lot of activities have been realized. One of the staff members, Mona, talked to the children about Child’s Rights in Haiti which got their attention because when she was finished they’re were a lot of questions being asked about their rights to live decently as humans.

The nonprofit organization REPADS/ CPSDA, is looking for a volunteer in the USA who will be the manager of our Saves Lives Program (Children’s Sponsorship Program). The key responsibilities of this manager are:

- Looking for and finding sponsors for the children

- Raising funds for the program implementation

- Making new contacts with supporters

- Promoting the values of the organization and ensuring a good visibility of REPADS abroad

- Coming up with new plans and strategies for better implementation of the programs


This candidate should be preferably, a female, who has experience in working with children and who is committed to working in a humanitarian organization devoted to the cause of improving the lives and conditions of children. The REPADS staff was in the field on Tuesday July 9th to speak to the people in one of our communities (Leogane) about best the way to protect themselves during the passage of the Tropical Storm Chantal. No victims have been reported in the area after the passage of the Tropical Storm.
